Stephen, Matthew and the whole team at SDL have done a fantastic job rebuilding our small city backyard.
From the moment Stephen arrived for an initial visit his enthusiasm for the space was apparent, and we particularly appreciated the way he was able to translate the hodgepodge of ideas that we had into a coherent vision for the backyard.
IN no particular order, here are some of the standouts of our experience with SDL:
• Matthew and the team on-site were professional and took pride in their work at all times. The quality of workmanship was great. We are particularly pleased with the hardwood pergola and the quality of the stonework (Mike is a true artist!)
• Unlike some other companies that we spoke to, there was no expectation for us to have a complete plan at the outset and as we had new ideas along the way SDL were able to incorporate these without any problem.
• Matthew always took the time to make sure that the neighbours were happy (especially important as we live in an inner-city terrace)
• We paid the extra for well-developed plants. I recommend that you consider this option.
The whole family is so pleased with the final result, and I would not hesitate to recommend SDL.

I had my landscape done by Creations - Sydney Design and Landscape two years ago.
I have loved their design and the 3D presentations and their informative, positive and friendly approach that set them apart from other landscapers. Once we gave them the job they have deployed a good team following up on a daily bases and making changes to the plan to accommodate some unexpected issues without making it a problem to us.
After two years from the job, I love the landscaping work like the first day.
Pricing was similar to other landscapers, but their approach set them apart.

Our project included tiling, carpentry, drainage, watering system, fencing, adjusting ground levels, retaining, soil improvement and planting; and in spite of limited access to site plus drainage issues, they made it all look easy. "Punctual, friendly, honest and above all not pushy. Listened to all our ideas and provided advice accordingly and also provided good ideas of their own. After a previous attempt at getting landscaping done a couple of years back without looking into it (and getting burnt by a few thousand dollars) we finally bit the bullet and decided to try again. This time we researched it properly and after a few quotes on Landscape Design we decided to go with 2 companies to really get a good idea of what we wanted. Sydney Design & Landscape Creations were one of the companies, and after the design Stephen came up with to suit our situation and budget we couldn't be happier with our choice and went with them for the landscape construction too. Stephen was quite flexible regarding a mix of his ideas and the other landscape designer we had used, although both had suggested a lot of the same ideas. A nice surprise was no extra costs appearing out of nowhere, all the financials were fully transparent & the costs of all choices were upfront. They also double checked the finer points of the construction work (such as finishing heights etc.) before completing that section to make sure we were both on the same page which was a nice touch. The workmanship of Stephen & Valentine was first class and even when our old friend Murphy threw things their way it didn't faze them. Their pride in the work they do and the attention to details (even the small ones) meant the finished product is fantastic. An example is he built some additions to our outdoor deck but went to the effort of making sure the position of the new nails matched the old, to make it look as if it was all built at the same time. Another important factor these days is my family never once felt any distrust about them - it's a shame I felt the need to mention that but these days having strangers spending so much time on your property trust & feeling comfortable is important. In the end it felt like family friends had dropped by to do the work lol. The most important fact of all though is this - our backyard used to be a place for hanging the washing and my smoking area (and a small unproductive vege patch). Stephen & Valentine have now transformed it to a welcoming family & entertaining space with a great raised vege garden, and an area my 3yo son now loves to spend time in. Not only have they effectively increased the size of our home by making the space usable, but the quality of the work has also increased the value of our property. I could not recommend them highly enough, and in fact already have a family friend who after seeing the result wants them to work on their home. Thanks guys, and also thanks to Rachel who kept the admin side of the business smooth as silk regarding communication, contract details & accounts."
